In fiscal year 2022-23, India witnessed a 17.5% decline in the creation of frontline jobs compared to the previous year, with about 6.6 million jobs generated, down from 8 million in FY22. This decrease is attributed to cautious hiring by companies amid economic uncertainties, according to a report by the frontline workforce management platform BetterPlace.
Frontline jobs encompass roles like call center employees, delivery staff, marketing and sales executives, and housekeeping personnel, all of whom play pivotal roles in a company's customer interactions. The data also revealed a 4.5% decline in the average monthly salaries of frontline workers in FY23, with the logistics and mobility sector overtaking e-commerce as the leading employment industry for such workers. Despite these challenges, hiring is expected to improve during the festive season, with increased demand for manpower across sectors.
