Bots Dominate D-Street: FIIs, Prop Desks Earn Rs 59,000 Crore in FY24 Using Algos
In FY24, foreign institutional investors (FIIs) and proprietary traders made massive profits using algorithms in India’s derivatives market, according to a Sebi report.
FIIs earned Rs 26,900 crore, while proprietary traders made Rs 32,000 crore, totaling Rs 59,000 crore. About 97% of FII profits and 96% of proprietary traders' gains came from algo-based trading. Out of 376 FIIs, 306 used algorithms, while 347 out of 626 prop traders did the same. However, only 13% of 95.7 lakh individual traders used algorithms.
