David S. Marriott, chairman of Marriott International, sees great growth potential in India, even more than in China.
Marriott has signed over 5,000 hotel rooms this year across 30 new projects, focusing on leisure properties for younger travelers. Business travel in India is now surpassing pre-pandemic levels, while growth in China and the US is slowing. The company aims for a 3-4% revenue per available room (RevPAR) increase for 2024. With 153 hotels currently and 85 in development, India is a key market, driven by strong domestic travel.
