Startups Vital for India's Rise to Third-Largest Economy

Chief Economic Advisor Anantha Nageswaran emphasized the pivotal role of startups in India's journey to becoming the world's third-largest economy.

At the Huddle Global 2023 event, Nageswaran highlighted the transformative impact of tier-2 and 3 cities, fostering a conducive environment for startups. India, currently the fifth-largest economy, aims for a "7-in-7" goal—achieving a $7 trillion economy in seven years.

Nageswaran lauded the startup ecosystem's growth, with over 1.12 lakh startups and 110 unicorns valued at $350 billion. He underscored the innovation spectrum across various sectors and the substantial contribution of tier-2 and 3 cities with improved infrastructure and government support.
