Urban unemployment for individuals aged 15 and above slightly increased to 6.7% in the January-March quarter of FY24, up from 6.5% in the previous quarter, according to recent official data. Despite this, the joblessness rate showed a marginal decline from 6.8% in the same period last year. Male unemployment rose from 6% to 6.1%, while female unemployment decreased from 9.2% to 8.5%. The labor force participation rate (LFPR) increased to 50.2%, and the worker population ratio (WPR) rose to 46.9%, indicating a growing urban workforce.
