98.7% of Rs 2000 Notes Returned to Banks: RBI

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) announced that 98.7% of Rs 2000 currency notes have been returned to the banking system. Following the decision to withdraw these high-denomination notes from circulation, the RBI received Rs 3.32 lakh crore worth of these notes back from the public. This large influx highlights the compliance and efficiency of the process. The RBI had set a deadline for the return of Rs 2000 notes, which were introduced in 2016 to curb black money and facilitate cash transactions during demonetization.
