In a new HBO documentary, "Money Electric: The Bitcoin Mystery," filmmaker Cullen Hoback investigates the true identity of Bitcoin's creator, Satoshi Nakamoto.
He confronts Peter Todd, a Canadian developer, who has been named a suspect. In a dramatic moment, Hoback asks Todd if he is Satoshi, to which Todd replies, “Well, yeah, I'm Satoshi Nakamoto.” However, Todd later denied this claim in an email to CoinDesk and told CNN that the film is “irresponsible” and could threaten his safety. Hoback believes he has strong evidence, including a 2010 Bitcoin message board post from Todd, linking him to Nakamoto.
