India Pushes AI Growth as DeepSeek Disrupts Global Tech

The Indian government is supporting homegrown AI models after China's DeepSeek showed cost-efficient AI capabilities, causing US tech stocks to fall. IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced that six Indian firms could launch AI foundation models in ten months. The government is providing 18,693 GPUs at subsidized rates under the ₹10,371.92 crore IndiaAI Mission. A new AI Safety Institute will ensure responsible AI development. Proposals for AI projects in agriculture, education, and climate change are also being accepted. A portal for AI access is launching soon.
