India's Mutual Fund Investor Base Surpasses 40 Million Mark

The Association of Mutual Funds in India (AMFI) revealed that the number of unique mutual fund investors crossed 40 million in September 2023, signifying a significant milestone for the industry. Increased efforts in investor education, product simplification, and digitalization have fostered trust and driven growth.


DP Singh, Deputy Managing Director & Joint CEO of SBI Mutual Fund, acknowledged the collective contributions of the industry, regulators, and the government. AMFI CEO NS Venkatesh highlighted this achievement as a testament to Indian retail investors' active participation in equity markets through mutual funds. Additionally, the NSE reported a surge in direct investors in the stock market, reaching 80 million, with the latest 10 million additions in just eight months
