The anticipation for the iPhone 17 is growing as rumors suggest that the iPhone 17 Pro may feature reverse wireless charging. This innovative capability would allow users to charge their AirPods, Apple Watch, and other compatible devices directly from their iPhone. According to leaks from a Weibo-based source, Apple is actively testing this reverse charging technology, which would mark a significant first for the iPhone series. If it is implemented, it would enhance the overall user experience and potentially draw more consumers to the Apple ecosystem.

The iPhone 17 series is anticipated to be launched next month, likely around September 9. With the launch approaching, tech enthusiasts are eager to see if Apple will officially unveil the reverse wireless charging feature. This could place the iPhone 17 Pro in direct competition with rivals like the recently launched Google Pixel 10 series and Samsung Galaxy S25 series.

Earlier this year, it had been reported that Apple was testing a 7.5W reverse charging capability for the Pro models in the iPhone 17 series. While multiple sources have suggested that testing is complete, whether this feature will make it to the final product remains uncertain.

Apple has dabbled in reverse charging technology before, albeit in a limited capacity. In 2021, they introduced the MagSafe Battery Pack, allowing iPhones to charge the battery pack while being charged through the Lightning cable. However, this product was discontinued in September 2023 with the launch of the iPhone 15 lineup, which transitioned to a USB-C port. Currently, all iPhones equipped with USB-C can reverse charge devices at a rate of up to 4.5 watts.

If Apple decides to include reverse wireless charging in the iPhone 17 Pro, it could significantly elevate the device's appeal.
