Mercedes-Benz has been served a notice by the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB) for breaching environmental regulations at its Chakan facility near Pune. Following a surprise inspection, the MPCB found that crucial pollution control measures, including the operation of clarifiers and centrifuge units in the sewage treatment plant, were not being maintained. Additionally, the company failed to install mandated emission control devices for diesel engines. Mercedes-Benz India confirmed receipt of the notice and stated they would cooperate with the authorities. The company has 15 days to respond.
