Now NPS Users Can Automatically Get 60% of Their Savings

The Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA) has given the green light for National Pension System (NPS) subscribers to opt for automated periodic withdrawals of 60% of their pension corpus using the Systematic Lumpsum Withdrawal (SLW) facility. This allows subscribers to withdraw their lump sum amount monthly, quarterly, semi-annually, or annually until the age of 75.

Previously, lump sum withdrawals were only allowed in a single tranche or on an annual basis. This new option provides greater flexibility and convenience for subscribers, particularly for those who prefer a more cautious approach to managing their retirement funds. The SLW facility is initially available for Tier-I accounts and will be extended to Tier II accounts in the future.
