Food delivery giant Zomato has launched a 'Food Rescue' feature to cut down food waste from canceled orders. This new feature allows nearby customers, within a 3 km radius, to claim recently canceled orders at discounted rates. Zomato stated that, despite its no-refund policy on cancellations, over 400,000 orders are wasted each month. Through Food Rescue, these canceled meals will be available for a short period in their original packaging. Restaurant partners will still receive full payment, plus a share of the new sale amount if an order is claimed.
