India’s Poverty Reduction Success: Niti Aayog Report

India has made significant strides in reducing poverty and advancing economic growth, according to Niti Aayog’s SDG India Index 2023-24.

The report highlights that basic survival is no longer an issue, with multidimensional poverty nearly halved from 24.8% to 14.96% between 2015-16 and 2019-21. By 2022-23, it dropped further to 11.28%, lifting 248 million people out of poverty since 2013-14. Niti Aayog CEO BVR Subrahmanyam affirmed that India is on track to meet the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals well before the 2030 deadline.
