Celebrate Labour Day: A Day for Workers
Labour Day, celebrated on May 1, honors workers and their vital contributions to society. Originating from the late 19th-century labor movement, this day recognizes the achievements of the working class globally. In India, many cities, including Bengaluru, Mumbai, and Chennai, will observe a bank holiday, affecting trading in various sectors. Schools and government offices in several states will also remain closed to mark this occasion. Interestingly, Maharashtra Day coincides with Labour Day, leading to a ban on alcohol sales, while essential services like hospitals and public transport will continue to operate normally.
