DA Hike March 2026: Cabinet Announcement Expected Any Day — Complete Details

Central government employees and pensioners across India are closely tracking the DA Hike March 2026 announcement. Based on the All India Consumer Price Index for Industrial Workers (AICPI-IW) data, a 2% increase in Dearness Allowance is widely expected, which would increase DA from 58% to 60% of basic pay.

When Will the DA Hike Be Announced?

The January–June DA revision is usually approved by the Union Cabinet during March or early April.

Past announcement trends show:

  • 2025 DA hike announced on March 28

  • 2024 DA hike announced on March 30

  • 2023 DA hike announced on March 24

Following this pattern, the 2026 DA hike announcement could come within the last week of March or early April.

Salary Increase After DA Hike

The 2% increase will directly raise the monthly income of government employees.

Example calculations:

  • Basic Pay ₹18,000 → monthly increase of ₹360

  • Basic Pay ₹35,400 → monthly increase of ₹708

  • Basic Pay ₹50,000 → monthly increase of ₹1,000

Over a year, this translates to ₹4,000–₹12,000 additional income depending on pay level.

Pensioners will also benefit from a 2% Dearness Relief (DR) increase, which is linked to the DA rate.

Why This DA Hike Matters

The DA Hike March 2026 is important because it may be one of the final revisions under the 7th Pay Commission. With discussions around the 8th Pay Commission already underway, higher DA levels could eventually be merged into the revised basic salary structure.

Who Will Benefit?

More than 1 crore people across India will benefit from this decision, including:

  • Central government employees

  • Pensioners

  • Family pensioners

  • PSU employees following central pay scales

What Employees Should Do Now

Employees should wait for the official notification from the Finance Ministry and the Cabinet decision. Avoid relying on unofficial social media claims until the government releases the final order.
