DC Produce Complete Performance to Down LSG in IPL 2026

Delhi Capitals delivered a clinical, all-round display to beat Lucknow Super Giants by 6 wickets in their IPL 2026 fixture on April 1st. From the toss to the final delivery, DC were simply the better side on the day.

Toss & Conditions DC skipper Axar Patel won the toss and had no hesitation in electing to bowl under hot, clear conditions with a normal pitch and normal outfield. The decision proved spot-on as DC's bowlers got to work immediately.

LSG Batting: Starts But No Finish LSG's innings never truly gained momentum. The biggest talking point was Rishabh Pant — IPL 2026's most expensive buy — opening the batting but falling for a run-out on just 7 off 9 balls. It was a soft dismissal that set the tone for LSG's innings.

Mitchell Marsh provided some resistance with a 28-ball 35, including 3 maximums, but perished to Kuldeep Yadav in the 10th over. Aiden Markram played a breezy 11-ball 11 before Axar Patel had him bowled. Nicholas Pooran — another power-hitting option — could only manage 8 before Lungi Ngidi shattered his stumps.

The lower middle order partially steadied the innings. Abdul Samad was the most impressive LSG batter, striking 36 off just 25 balls at a strike rate of 144 — the only LSG batter to look at ease. Mukul Choudhary chipped in with a useful 14, and Shahbaz Ahmed contributed 15 lower down. But wickets kept falling at regular intervals, and LSG were eventually dismissed for 141 in 18.4 overs — a total that always looked below par.

DC Bowling: Shared But Decisive The DC bowling attack was excellent in its variety and execution. Lungi Ngidi was the stand-out performer with 3 wickets for 27 runs across 3.4 overs, including a maiden spell late in the innings. T. Natarajan matched him wicket-for-wicket, claiming 3 scalps for 29 runs in his 4-over quota. Kuldeep Yadav was his usual crafty self, picking up 2 wickets for 31. Axar Patel took 1 wicket and was the most economical of the frontline bowlers at 5.67 runs per over. Even Mukesh Kumar kept things tight without a wicket.

DC Chase: Wobble, Then Composure The chase began disastrously — KL Rahul, DC's big-name opener, was caught off the very first ball of Mohammed Shami's spell for a golden duck. The stadium went silent momentarily. But Delhi didn't panic. The middle-order batters weathered early pressure and steadily built partnerships, eventually crossing the line in 17.1 overs by 6 wickets with nearly 3 overs to spare.

A comprehensive win for Delhi Capitals, who continue their promising run in IPL 2026. LSG, on the other hand, need serious answers — particularly around their top-order fragility, including from their marquee players.

Result: Delhi Capitals won by 6 wickets LSG: 141/10 in 18.4 overs DC: 145/4 in 17.1 overs Top Performers: Abdul Samad 36 (25) | Lungi Ngidi 3/27 | T. Natarajan 3/29
