First Private Reinsurer Gets Green Light in India

Valueattics Re has made a significant mark in India's insurance landscape by becoming the first private reinsurer to receive approval from the insurance regulator IRDAI. Backed by FAL Corporation and GoDigit founder Kamesh Goyal, this move opens new doors in the reinsurance sector, which is essential for managing risks, especially in the face of large losses. Until now, the General Insurance Corporation (GIC Re) was the only player in this field. With this license, Goyal and Fairfax are now pioneers, holding licenses for general insurance, life insurance, and reinsurance in India, showcasing a new era of growth and competition in the industry.
