Government Accused of Misleading Waqf Data in Court

The All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) has accused the Indian government of providing false data to the Supreme Court regarding the Waqf Law. They claim that the government's statement about the number of Waqf properties registered before 2013 being uploaded on the WAMSI portal is misleading. The government reported a surprising 116% increase in Waqf properties since 2013 but AIMPLB argues this claim lacks evidence. They emphasize that the concept of 'Waqf-by-user' allows properties to be recognized as Waqf based on actual use, even without formal registration. The Supreme Court is set to hear further arguments on this issue in early May.
