Sikh Community Takes Stand Against Dhurandhar 2

25 Mar, 2026

In a significant development, members of the Sikh community have filed an FIR against the makers of the film Dhurandhar 2, alleging blatant disrespect towards Gurbani, a sacred scripture. The complaint, lodged at Mulund Police Station by Gurjyot Singh Keer, specifically names prominent figures including R. Madhavan, Ranveer Singh, and director Aditya Dhar for their involvement in what has been termed an offensive depiction.

Gurjyot Singh Keer has brought attention to the context of the verse cited in the film, which was originally composed by Guru Gobind Singh during a period of persecution under the Mughal emperor Aurangzeb. He stressed that this verse holds tremendous historical and religious significance for the Sikh community.

In light of the alleged insult, Gurjyot has urged the Sikh community to unite and stage peaceful protests. He emphasized the importance of coming together to express their discontent, urging individuals to display black flags whenever Aditya Dhar, R Madhavan, and Ranveer Singh appear in public if they do not issue a sincere apology to the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) and the Sikh community.

The call for action has sparked discussions about the portrayal of religious sentiments in Indian cinema. Gurjyot's remarks serve as a reminder of the sensitivity surrounding such issues in a diverse nation like India. He warned, “Apologise immediately, or history has shown what the Sikh community is capable of.”

This incident highlights the ongoing discourse about freedom of expression in India and the boundaries that filmmakers must navigate when dealing with religious themes. The Sikh community’s response reflects their commitment to protecting their cultural and religious identity, and it underscores the need for sensitivity and respect in artistic representations.

As the situation unfolds, it will be crucial to observe how the filmmakers respond to these allegations and whether they will engage in dialogue with the community to address the concerns raised. The outcome could set a precedent for how religious sentiments are handled in Indian cinema moving forward.
