Aamir Khan on Junaid's Independence and New Film Ek Din
Aamir Khan recently opened up about his son, Junaid Khan, revealing their friendly and supportive relationship. Instead of a traditional father-son dynamic, Aamir describes himself more as a friend to his children, including Junaid, Ira, and Azad, who is now 14. He admires Junaid's strong will and sharp understanding of cinema, noting that Junaid is making his own decisions regarding film roles.
In a candid conversation, Aamir shared how Junaid does not consult him about his career choices. "I taught Junaid how to play chess when he was just four years old. He first beat me when he was 18, and now I can never win against him!" Aamir expressed pride in Junaid’s journey and decision-making skills. Junaid has signed two films, one of which is in collaboration with Ektaa Kapoor and Balaji Telefilms.
Moreover, Aamir discussed his upcoming film "Ek Din," directed by Sunil Pandey. He described it as a classic love story that offers a fresh perspective, something audiences have not seen in a long time. The film includes scenes shot in Japan, and Aamir teased that the reason for this choice would become clear upon its release.
When asked if "Ek Din" has themes similar to the film "Saiyaara," which dealt with Alzheimer’s, Aamir laughed and clarified that the two films are completely different. This statement hints at the unique storyline and emotional depth that "Ek Din" promises to deliver.
Scheduled for release on May 1, "Ek Din" marks Junaid's third major project in a leading role, while also introducing Sai to the Bollywood scene. The film is penned by Sneha Desai and Spandan Mishra, with music composed by Ram Sampath and lyrics by Irshad Kamil. As Aamir continues to support his son’s journey in the film industry, audiences are excited to see what both father and son have in store.
