Actor Rahul Banerjee’s Tragic Death During Shoot
In a tragic turn of events, actor Rahul Arunoday Banerjee passed away while attempting to save his co-star during a film shoot in Odisha. The incident occurred when the actors were filming a sequence in knee-deep water. Eyewitnesses reported that the female co-actor lost her footing and fell into a depression on the uneven seabed. Without a second thought, Rahul jumped in to rescue her.
Sadly, despite his brave efforts, he inhaled a significant amount of sand and saline water. He was rushed to Digha State General Hospital, which is about 11 kilometers from Talsari, but was pronounced dead on arrival. The news of his sudden passing has shocked his family, friends, and fans across the country.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the production team had not obtained permission from the Odisha police prior to the shoot. This oversight raises serious concerns about safety protocols in the film industry. A Talsari police officer mentioned that had they been informed about the shoot, they could have arranged for lifeguards, rescue boats, and medical support, which were not available that day.
Rahul Arunoday Banerjee was not just an actor; he was a loving husband and father. He is survived by his wife, actress Priyanka Sarkar, and their son, Shahaj Banerjee. The couple first met on the sets of the Bengali film "Chirodini Tumi Je Amar," married in 2010, and welcomed their son in 2013. Although they faced challenges and separated in 2017, they reconciled in 2023 and were together at the time of his untimely death.
This heartbreaking incident has left a deep impact on his family, including his mother and extended relatives. Colleagues and fans are paying tribute to his life and career, reflecting on his contributions to the Bengali film industry.
