Akhanda 2 Release Delayed: Court Case Shocks Fans
The highly anticipated film Akhanda 2, starring Nandamuri Balakrishna, was set to hit theaters on December 5. Fans and cast members had been eagerly promoting the film, creating excitement across the Telugu states. However, just hours before its scheduled release, the film was unexpectedly postponed, leaving many in shock.
Initially, the makers attributed the delay to "technical issues beyond our control." Yet, the underlying reason appears to be a legal dispute involving 14 Reels Entertainment and Eros International Media. On the eve of the release, Eros announced that the Madras High Court had issued an injunction against the film's release, bringing the situation to a standstill.
Eros International filed an appeal related to a long-standing arbitral award against 14 Reels, claiming that they were owed approximately ₹28 crore. The court's decision effectively blocked any release, distribution, or commercial exploitation of Akhanda 2 until further notice. Eros argued that 14 Reels' attempt to release the film was a way to avoid complying with legally determined financial obligations.
On social media, 14 Reels expressed their regret, saying, "With a heavy heart, we regret to inform you that #Akhanda2 will not be releasing as scheduled due to unavoidable circumstances." They acknowledged the disappointment this would cause to fans and promised to work diligently to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.
Akhanda 2: Thaandavam is the sequel to the successful 2021 film Akhanda, directed by Boyapati Srinu. Alongside Balakrishna, the film features talented actors such as Samyuktha, Aadhi Pinishetty, and Harshaali Malhotra. The film's soundtrack, composed by Thaman S, has already garnered a positive response from fans, adding to the anticipation for its release.
