13 Jan, 2026

Bollywood star Akshay Kumar recently celebrated his niece Simar Bhatia's entry into the film industry with her debut in Ikkis. Taking to social media, he shared a touching tribute that reflects his pride and affection for her journey. Akshay expressed how he has witnessed Simar transform from a shy little girl into a confident young woman ready to take on the challenges of acting.

In his heartfelt note, Akshay shared a nostalgic moment, recalling how he held her as a baby and now sees her stepping into the world of films. He wrote, “Holding you as a tiny baby to now watching you step into the world of films… life really has come full circle.” His words resonate with many, highlighting the deep bond within families and the pride they take in each other's achievements.

Akshay offered words of encouragement for Simar’s journey ahead, reminding her of the family values that define their lineage. He emphasized that while the path may be difficult, her determination and spirit will guide her through. He stated, “Hum Bhatias ka funda simple hai: kaam karo, dil se karo, aur phir universe ka magic dekho.” This mantra of hard work and sincerity is something that many families in India can relate to, as it encapsulates the essence of dedication and perseverance.

Ikkis itself is poised to be a significant film in Bollywood, as it is a biographical war-drama based on the life of Arun Khetarpal. He was the youngest Indian Army officer to be posthumously awarded the Param Vir Chakra for his bravery during the 1971 Battle of Basantar. The film portrays Arun’s evolution from a cadet to a courageous officer who ultimately sacrifices his life for the nation. This narrative not only honors his heroism but also reflects on the impact of war on families.

Directed by Sriram Raghavan and produced by Maddock Films, Ikkis features Agastya Nanda in the lead role, alongside veteran actor Dharmendra, who makes his final on-screen appearance in the film. The release is scheduled for December 25, 2025, making it a poignant farewell to Dharmendra and a tribute to India’s youngest war hero.

As Akshay concluded his note with pride, stating, “I’m so proud of you beta… The world is about to meet Simar Bhatia… but to me you’ve always been a star. Go shine! Jai Mahadev,” he encapsulated the love and support that defines family ties in Indian culture. Simar's journey has only just begun, and with the backing of her family, she is set to shine brightly in the film industry.
