Anushka Sharma recently caught attention with an old video clip from the promotions of her 2011 film, Ladies vs Ricky Bahl. In this resurfaced video, she candidly discusses her discomfort with receiving gifts from men, offering a glimpse into her personality and values.

During the conversation, Anushka expressed her belief that the whole concept of accepting gifts from men seemed foolish to her. She stated, "Mujhe yeh gift ka fanda bahut stupid lagta hai." This statement resonates with many in the Indian context, where traditional gender roles often dictate gift-giving dynamics. Anushka’s perspective challenges these norms, as she shared how uncomfortable she felt when receiving gifts.

She elaborated that if she did accept a gift, she would often engage in what she called a "cheap harkat" by checking the price of the gift. This behavior reflects her strong sense of independence and her desire not to feel beholden to anyone. Anushka mentioned, "I never want a guy to say that he spent money on me," indicating her commitment to equality in relationships, which is an important value for many in contemporary Indian society.

Moreover, she highlighted her preference for splitting bills or paying her share when dining out, further emphasizing her belief in financial independence and equality. This attitude can be seen as a significant shift from traditional expectations in Indian relationships, where men often feel pressured to take on the financial burden.

Anushka's candid remarks also shed light on her past relationship with Ranveer Singh, her co-star in the film. The duo was rumored to be dating following their on-screen chemistry in Band Baaja Baaraat. However, they eventually parted ways, and Anushka later married Virat Kohli, stepping back from her film career to focus on her personal life.

Her last major role was in the 2018 film Zero, and she has made only a few appearances since, including a special role in Qala in 2022. Anushka's journey reflects a broader narrative of balancing personal and professional life, where she prioritizes her values over conventional expectations.
