Assi Box Office: Taapsee's Film Hits Low on Day 6

26 Feb, 2026

Taapsee Pannu's film "Assi" is making headlines for its box office performance, particularly as it shows a significant dip in collections. On its sixth day, the film earned ₹42 lakh, marking its lowest earnings to date. Directed by Anubhav Sinha, "Assi" opened with a strong start, collecting ₹1 crore on its first day, followed by ₹1.6 crore on both the second and third days. However, the numbers began to decline with ₹70 lakh on the fourth day and ₹85 lakh on the fifth.

As of now, "Assi" has accumulated a total of ₹6.17 crore, which raises questions about its overall appeal to audiences. The film had a total of 1410 shows with an average occupancy of just 6.5 percent, indicating that it has struggled to attract viewers consistently. The critical reception has been mixed; The Hindustan Times praised the film for its sincere intent, despite some narrative shortcomings.

According to the review, "Assi" aims to provoke thought and highlight the struggles of survivors rather than focusing solely on dramatic spectacle. This approach may not be comfortable for all viewers, but it seeks to keep the conversation alive around significant social issues. Anubhav Sinha emphasized that "Assi" is not based on any single case but is a culmination of various stories that share similar themes, making it relatable to many.

In "Assi," Taapsee plays a lawyer, supported by a talented cast including Kani Kusruti, Mohd Zeeshan Ayyub, Manoj Pahwa, Seema Pahwa, Kumud Mishra, and Revathy. Special appearances by renowned actors like Naseeruddin Shah and Supriya Pathak add star power to the film. Produced by T-Series and Sinha's own Benaras Mediaworks, "Assi" positions itself as "real mainstream cinema," aiming to resonate with the audience's lives and reflect pressing societal issues.

As the film continues its run, it will be interesting to see whether it can recover from this downturn in earnings and engage a larger audience with its serious themes and compelling performances.
