Bhooth Bangla Blasts Box Office, Earns ₹118 Crore
Bhooth Bangla, a much-anticipated film starring Akshay Kumar, was released on April 17 and has quickly captured the audience's attention. With a successful start, the film earned ₹3.50 crore during its paid previews, setting the stage for its release. On the opening day, it garnered an impressive ₹12.25 crore net, buoyed by strong positive reviews from critics and audiences alike.
The film's first weekend saw a total collection of ₹58 crore net in India, showcasing its popularity. However, the film experienced a slight dip in its collection on Monday, earning only ₹6.75 crore. Nevertheless, it rebounded on Tuesday, raking in ₹8 crore net, bringing its total domestic earnings to ₹72.75 crore net (₹86.62 crore gross) after just five days.
On the global stage, Bhooth Bangla achieved a remarkable milestone, grossing ₹118 crore worldwide. This impressive performance has made it the 3rd highest-grossing Hindi film of the year, surpassing earlier releases like Shahid Kapoor’s O Romeo, which collected ₹92 crore, and Rani Mukerji’s Mardaani 3 at ₹78 crore. Notably, Bhooth Bangla has outperformed the lifetime earnings of the horror-comedy Bhediya, which had a global collection of ₹90 crore when it was released in 2022.
Looking ahead, Bhooth Bangla is poised to challenge the earnings of another horror-comedy, Munjya, which grossed ₹132 crore worldwide. The film aims to achieve even greater heights by targeting the collections of Stree and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2. However, overtaking their sequels, Stree 2 and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, may prove to be a formidable challenge for this Priyadarshan-directed film.
Directed by the renowned Priyadarshan, Bhooth Bangla marks his return to Hindi cinema after a five-year hiatus. This film is particularly special as it reunites him with Akshay Kumar after a gap of 14 years. The stellar cast includes talented actors like Tabu, Wamiqa Gabbi, Paresh Rawal, Rajpal Yadav, and Mithila Palkar, adding to the film's appeal and promising an engaging viewing experience.
