Cocktail 2 has made an impressive entry into the Indian box office, collecting ₹13.50 crore on its first day. Released across over 3000 screens, this romantic drama has shown promise, especially considering the recent unfavorable trends for similar films. The film's opening is significant, given the challenges faced by romantic dramas in the past few years.

According to trade tracker Sacnilk, the film sold over 1.6 lakh tickets in advance bookings for its opening day, contributing approximately ₹5.57 crore to its gross earnings. When accounting for blocked seats sold during spot bookings, this number increases to over ₹8 crore. The film has successfully crossed ₹10 crore net in India on its very first day, setting a positive tone for the coming days.

One key factor behind the strong start of Cocktail 2 is the goodwill generated by its predecessor, Cocktail, coupled with the star power of its leading actors, Shahid Kapoor, Kriti Sanon, and Rashmika Mandanna. The original Cocktail, released in 2012, was a box-office success, earning ₹10.47 crore on its opening day. Cocktail 2 has surpassed that mark in absolute terms, but when adjusted for inflation and ticket sales, it would need to gross around ₹18-19 crore to truly outshine the original, a feat that seems challenging.

Directed by Homi Adajania, Cocktail 2 is a romantic comedy that serves as a spiritual sequel to the 2012 hit, featuring a fresh storyline and new characters. Despite receiving mixed reviews from critics and some audience members, the film's occupancy has been steadily rising, indicating that word of mouth may still play in its favor.

In conclusion, while Cocktail 2 faces hurdles due to mixed feedback, the initial box office performance is a testament to the popularity of its cast and the legacy of its predecessor. The filmmakers remain hopeful that the film will continue to attract audiences in the coming days.
