Tamil superstar Dhanush recently made headlines at the Dubai Watch Week, where he shared a heartfelt story about his first love for watches. Unlike the common perception that celebrities are enamored with luxury brands like Rolex or Omega, Dhanush revealed that his cherished timepiece was a simple digital watch that cost less than $1 (approximately ₹89.64). This watch was a gift from his mother during his school days, holding a special place in his heart.

When asked about his initial attraction to watches, Dhanush reminisced about the digital watch he received as a child. He described it as a no-name, plastic timepiece that only displayed the time and had a light feature. Despite its basic functionality, the watch was colorful and flashy, and he fondly recalled how he and his siblings chose their favorite colors. Even when the battery died, he continued wearing it to school, demonstrating his deep affection for the watch.

Dhanush's connection to the watch is rooted in his humble background. He shared how once the battery ran out, the watch was rendered useless, yet it remained a symbol of his childhood. The actor mentioned that while many boys grow up dreaming of fast cars or gaming, he developed a passion for watches, showcasing a unique perspective on what treasures truly matter.

Today, Dhanush still keeps the watch in a case at his home in Chennai, despite it no longer functioning. This token from his past serves as a reminder of his journey and the love he received from his mother. It highlights how simple gifts can carry immense emotional value, transcending their material cost.

On the professional front, Dhanush has had a busy year, taking on multiple roles as an actor, director, and producer. He starred in Sekhar Kammula’s 'Kuberaa,' which released in both Tamil and Telugu, and also made his directorial debut with 'Idli Kadai.' Dhanush introduced his nephew Pavish in 'Nilavaku En Mel Ennadi Kobam,' showcasing his commitment to nurturing new talent in the industry. Upcoming, he will be seen in 'Tere Ishk Mein,' continuing to captivate audiences with his versatile performances.
