Dhurandhar Box Office: Ranveer's Big Hit
Dhurandhar, featuring the talented Ranveer Singh, has made a remarkable mark at the box office in India. In just five days, it has crossed the Rs 150 crore milestone, showcasing the film's popularity and audience engagement. Directed by Aditya Dhar, this spy thriller experienced a dip in earnings on its first Monday, but it bounced back strongly with a 15% increase on Tuesday, earning Rs 26.50 crore compared to Monday's Rs 23.25 crore.
On Sunday, the film had already shown promising growth, raking in Rs 43 crore, which was a significant 34% rise from Saturday's earnings of Rs 32 crore. This positive trend indicates a strong word-of-mouth appeal and audience interest, which is crucial for a film's long-term success. The opening day collection stood at Rs 28 crore, which laid a solid foundation for its subsequent earnings.
According to trade tracker Sacnilk, after five days, Dhurandhar's total earnings in India reached Rs 152.75 crore. This impressive figure not only highlights its success but also marks a significant achievement for Ranveer Singh, as it has surpassed his previous hit, Gully Boy, which earned Rs 139.63 crore during its entire run.
Furthermore, it's anticipated that Dhurandhar will soon surpass Ranveer’s last solo lead film, Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, which accumulated Rs 153.55 crore. Once it achieves this, it will become Ranveer’s highest-grossing film in six years, outshining other successful projects such as Kabir Khan's sports drama 83.
In the context of post-pandemic cinema, Dhurandhar stands out as a significant release for Ranveer Singh. The last blockbuster for him pre-pandemic was Simmba, which earned a staggering Rs 295 crore. However, it has yet to surpass the lifetime earnings of Uri: The Surgical Strike, Aditya Dhar's prior directorial, which grossed Rs 244.14 crore in 2019.
The film has a few days to enjoy its solo run at the box office before facing competition from Anukalp Goswami's romantic comedy Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2, starring Kapil Sharma, set to release this Friday. Additionally, next week will see the release of James Cameron’s highly anticipated Avatar: Fire and Ash, which may pose a challenge to Dhurandhar's box office dominance.
Dhurandhar is co-produced by Aditya Dhar and Jio Studios and features a strong cast, including Akshaye Khanna, Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, R Madhavan, Rakesh Bedi, and Sara Arjun. The film's second part is scheduled for release on March 19, 2026, coinciding with the Eid celebrations, which adds to the excitement surrounding the franchise.
