Dhurandhar's Box Office Triumph: Can It Top 2025?
Dhurandhar, a spy thriller featuring Ranveer Singh, has taken the Indian box office by storm. Released just 11 days ago, it has already crossed the impressive ₹600 crore mark, setting daily collection records along the way. This success has made it the third-highest-grossing film of 2025, trailing behind two other major hits: Chhaava and Kantara Chapter 1. The film's remarkable collection illustrates the growing popularity of Indian cinema and the star power of its lead actor.
In its first week, Dhurandhar grossed ₹319 crore worldwide, but it gained even more momentum in its second weekend. The film easily surpassed the ₹400 crore and ₹500 crore milestones, amassing a total gross of ₹639 crore within just 12 days. With net earnings nearing ₹500 crore, the film has already achieved a significant profit margin of 250-260%, considering its production cost of approximately ₹140 crore.
However, while Dhurandhar's financial performance is commendable, it still falls short of Chhaava and Kantara Chapter 1 in overall profitability. Chhaava has netted ₹650 crore on a budget of ₹125 crore, resulting in a profit of 420%. Meanwhile, Kantara Chapter 1 has grossed ₹680 crore with a ₹150 crore production cost, yielding a profit of 350%. For Dhurandhar to claim the title of the biggest hit of the year, it would need to surpass ₹725 crore in net earnings, which would require a worldwide gross exceeding ₹950 crore.
The trade experts predict that Dhurandhar has the potential to reach these figures and possibly even touch the ₹1000 crore mark, elevating it to the pinnacle of 2025's box office successes. However, it's important to note that while it may dominate among major releases, the title of the most profitable Indian film of 2025 is currently held by a lesser-known Gujarati film, Laalo. Made on a meager budget of ₹50 lakh, Laalo has grossed an astonishing ₹111 crore, resulting in an unbelievable profit margin of 17,000%.
Directed by Aditya Dhar, Dhurandhar stars Ranveer Singh as Hamza, an Indian operative tasked with infiltrating a Karachi-based gang. The film also features a strong supporting cast, including Akshaye Khanna, Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, and R Madhavan. As the box office race continues, it will be intriguing to see if Dhurandhar can surpass its competitors and secure its place in Indian cinema history.
