Embracing Age: Tamannaah Bhatia on Bollywood's Shift

28 Oct, 2025

Tamannaah Bhatia recently opened up about the evolving landscape of Bollywood, where women in their 30s are finally receiving the attention and roles they deserve. In a candid interview with Filmfare, she reflected on her journey as an actress, highlighting the industry's shifting perspective towards age and female representation.

Throughout her career, Tamannaah had a clear vision for herself, stating that she entered the industry with a “10-year plan.” She initially thought that she would work in films until her thirties and then settle down. However, as she navigated her late twenties, she witnessed a significant shift. "While I was working, I really came into my own, and fortunately, the industry began writing juicy parts for women," she said.

She emphasized that this is not just a phenomenon limited to India but part of a global shift in how women are portrayed in cinema. "I think it's a general shift that's happened all over the world. I don't know what this fear of age is, though. Many talk about ageing like it's some disease. Ageing is so awesome!" she exclaimed, advocating for a positive view of growing older.

Tamannaah's upcoming projects further reflect this changing narrative. She will be seen alongside Shahid Kapoor in the action thriller "O' Romeo," a gritty gangster drama scheduled for release in late 2025 or early 2026. Additionally, she will star opposite Sidharth Malhotra in "Vvan—Force of the Forest," a mythological thriller set to start filming in June 2025 and release in May 2026.

In an exciting twist, Tamannaah is also set to portray the wife of former Mumbai Police Commissioner Rakesh Maria in a biopic-style action film within Rohit Shetty’s Cop Universe. There are also rumors of her joining the comedy sequel "No Entry 2," which features Varun Dhawan in the lead role. With such diverse roles lined up, Tamannaah is poised to challenge stereotypes and redefine the narrative for women in Bollywood.
