Ikkis Box Office: Struggles and Hopes

13 Jan, 2026

"Ikkis," directed by Sriram Raghavan, has entered the box office race but is facing significant challenges. As a war epic, it aimed to capture the audience's attention, yet it has not performed as expected. On its fifth day, the film managed to earn only Rs 1.35 crore, bringing its total earnings to Rs 21.5 crore in India. This sharp decline in earnings right after the opening weekend raises concerns for the film's future.

The film's struggle can be attributed to tough competition at the box office. Released alongside films like "Dhurandhar," which has been dominating screens, and the international sensation "Avatar: Fire and Ash," "Ikkis" has found it hard to attract viewers. Even "Tu Meri Main Tera," though not as strong as others, adds to the competition. These factors have contributed to the film's low occupancy rates, averaging just 9.17% across shows.

For Agastya Nanda, "Ikkis" marks his theatrical debut, having previously been seen in Zoya Akhtar’s "Archies," which was released on Netflix. With this film, there are high expectations to honor his family legacy, especially considering that this is also Dharmendra's last film. His recent passing adds emotional weight to the film's success, and both his fans and family hope for a favorable outcome.

The film's performance metrics reveal troubling signs. Morning and afternoon shows recorded occupancy rates of 4.78% and 8.58%, respectively, while evening and night shows saw marginal improvements at 11.21% and 12.11%. These numbers indicate that "Ikkis" needs to ramp up its earnings quickly. If the trend continues, it risks losing screens, which would make it even harder to generate revenue moving forward.

Directed by the acclaimed Sriram Raghavan, "Ikkis" tells the story of Late Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal PVC. The cast includes notable actors such as Dharmendra, Jaideep Ahlawat, Simar Bhatia, Rahul Dev, Zakir Hussain, and Suhasini Mulay, all of whom bring depth to the narrative. As the film continues its run, audiences and critics alike are left wondering if it can recover from its current slump and achieve the success that many are hoping for.
