India Approves New Semiconductor Plant Near Jewar Airport

The Indian government has given the green light for a semiconductor manufacturing facility to be built by HCL and Foxconn in the Yamuna Expressway region, near Jewar airport. This facility, part of the India Semiconductor Mission, is expected to begin production in 2027 and will focus on display driver integrated circuits. This investment, amounting to ₹3,706 crore, aims to meet 40% of India's demand for these essential components found in devices like phones and laptops. This initiative is a major step towards boosting India's electronics manufacturing capability, aiming to increase local value addition significantly by 2030.
