Jaiswal Prepares for South Africa Test Series at BKC

10 Nov, 2025

Yashasvi Jaiswal, the promising young opener for India, is intensifying his preparations for the upcoming Test series against South Africa. As the players from Himachal Pradesh were busy with their routine drills during a Ranji Trophy match, all eyes turned to Jaiswal, who was honing his skills at the nets at the Sharad Pawar Bandra-Kurla Complex.

On a Sunday morning, just five days before the first Test in Kolkata, Jaiswal arrived early at the ground, around 8 a.m. He focused on taking throwdowns and worked on his technique, particularly leaving balls outside off stump and playing with a straight bat. This meticulous approach highlights his dedication to performing well against a challenging South African bowling attack.

Jaiswal's recent form has been impressive, making 175 runs against the West Indies last month in New Delhi and scoring 156 in a crucial match against Rajasthan. These performances have set a solid foundation for him as he looks to make an impact in the Test series. His ability to adapt and deliver under pressure will be vital for India's success.

In the absence of Rohit Sharma, who retired from Test cricket in May, Jaiswal has built a strong opening partnership with KL Rahul. This duo has consistently provided India with strong starts, allowing the middle-order batsmen to settle in and build upon the momentum created. Their synergy at the crease has proven effective, particularly against new ball bowlers.

Moreover, Jaiswal's prior experience against South African bowlers from his tour earlier in the 2023-24 season adds to his confidence. Having toured South Africa, where India drew the Test series 1-1, he is familiar with the conditions and challenges posed by the opposition.

As Jaiswal prepares for his debut series, expectations are high. His dedication and hard work at the nets reflect his ambition to establish himself as a mainstay in the Indian Test lineup. Fans are eager to see how he performs against South Africa, hoping for another stellar display from the young talent.
