11 Oct, 2025

Yashasvi Jaiswal continues to amaze cricket fans with his impressive performances on the field. On a thrilling day at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi, he scored his seventh Test century, making headlines and solidifying his status as one of the brightest young talents in Indian cricket. This remarkable achievement, which came off just 145 balls, was against the West Indies and showcased his ability to dominate bowlers effectively.

At just 24 years old, Jaiswal is now part of an elite club, being only the second opener after Graeme Smith to score seven Test hundreds before reaching this age. The only other player with more centuries before the age of 24 is the legendary Sachin Tendulkar, which adds to the significance of Jaiswal’s achievement.

The match saw Jaiswal forming a solid partnership with B Sai Sudharsan, which allowed India to take control on Day 1 of the second Test. Their century partnership was crucial, as it put the West Indies bowlers under pressure, especially after a relatively quiet first session where India had scored 94 runs for the loss of just one wicket.

After lunch, Jaiswal and Sudharsan capitalized on some loose bowling from the West Indies, leading to a flurry of boundaries and runs. Jaiswal, who was on 40 during the first session, quickly accelerated his scoring and brought excitement to the crowd with aggressive batting. He shared an opening stand of 58 runs with KL Rahul, who contributed 38 runs before being dismissed.

This century marks Jaiswal's third Test hundred in the current calendar year, following his consistent performance in eight matches. He has also recorded two half-centuries, reaffirming his status as a key player for the Indian team. In 2024, he had already scored three Test centuries, demonstrating his potential to become a mainstay in the Indian batting lineup.

Jaiswal's previous two centuries this year were scored during India's thrilling Test tour of England, where he impressed with scores of 101 and 118. His debut century against the West Indies, where he scored 171, further highlights his ability to perform on big stages. As he continues to evolve and showcase his skills, the cricketing world eagerly anticipates what this young star will achieve next.
