Jyotika has recently shared her thoughts on the work culture in the Indian film industry, particularly in comparison to the Bollywood scene. In a recent interview, she expressed her support for fellow actor Deepika Padukone, who has been under scrutiny for her demands regarding work hours. Jyotika pointed out that in South cinema, it is common practice for actors to complete their shifts by 6 PM, which significantly contrasts with the often longer hours expected in Bollywood.

Jyotika mentioned, "In South, we have our shifts getting over at 6. They pack up at 6 for 99 percent of films. We start early morning — it is always like 7 to 6 or 9 to 6." This statement sheds light on the structured work hours in the South Indian film industry, where the emphasis is on maintaining a work-life balance for actors and crew members alike.

The conversation around work hours gained traction last year when rumors emerged about Deepika exiting the film "Spirit." Reports suggested she had requested an eight-hour shift and a share in the film’s profits. Following this, when Deepika was not included in the sequel of "Kalki 2898 AD," more speculations circulated about her asking for extra payment for every hour beyond a seven-hour shift, along with special accommodations for her crew.

These discussions highlight the ongoing changes in the film industry, as actors advocate for better work conditions. Jyotika’s comments resonate with many in the industry who are pushing for similar standards. As stars like Deepika and Jyotika navigate their careers, it’s essential to recognize the evolving expectations of work-life balance in the fast-paced world of cinema.

In the midst of these discussions, Jyotika and Sonakshi Sinha are eagerly awaiting the release of their upcoming legal drama, "System." Jyotika plays a court stenographer with limited means who assists a young public prosecutor, portrayed by Sonakshi. The film, directed by Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari, features a notable cast including Ashutosh Gowariker as Sonakshi’s character's father, a leading defense lawyer. "System" is set to premiere on Amazon Prime Video on May 22, adding excitement amidst the ongoing conversations about work conditions in the film industry.
