Kantara Chapter 1 Nears Rs 600 Crore Milestone

29 Oct, 2025

Kantara Chapter 1, starring Rishab Shetty, is a cinematic masterpiece that has captured the hearts of audiences across India. This period action epic is nearing its OTT release, yet continues to break box office records. With earnings of Rs 596.5 crore domestically and Rs 855 crore globally, it is on the verge of surpassing Stree 2's lifetime earnings and entering the prestigious Rs 600 crore club.

On its 27th day at the box office, the film earned Rs 3.65 crore, showing a slight increase from the previous day's collection of Rs 3.25 crore. Its performance has been impressive, especially since it crossed the double-digit revenue mark on its fourth Sunday, earning Rs 10.40 crore. In its opening week, Kantara: Chapter 1 amassed Rs 337.40 crore, followed by Rs 147.85 crore in its second week, and Rs 78.85 crore in the third week.

As it approaches the end of its fourth week, projections suggest it will finish around Rs 37 crore. Achieving this milestone will allow it to surpass the lifetime domestic earnings of Stree 2, which previously held the title of the highest-grossing Hindi film in India with Rs 597.99 crore.

Despite its impending OTT release on Prime Video India this Friday, it is expected that the film will retain momentum in cinemas, paving the way to reach the Rs 600 crore mark this week. This achievement will place it alongside Laxman Utekar's Chhaaava, which garnered Rs 601.54 crore earlier this year.

Interestingly, the original Kannada version, along with dubbed versions in Telugu, Tamil, and Malayalam, will release on Prime Video. However, the Hindi dubbed version will not be available for another four weeks, allowing it to maintain box office dominance. The Hindi version has already crossed the Rs 200 crore milestone, earning Rs 209.60 crore, while the Kannada version has seen lower daily earnings, reaching Rs 192 crore.

Globally, Kantara: Chapter 1 has crossed Rs 855 crore, making it the highest-grossing film of 2025. Although it stands at the 14th position among the highest-grossing Indian films worldwide, it is poised to break records and continue its success.

In conclusion, Kantara: Chapter 1 is not just a film; it is a cultural phenomenon that resonates with audiences. Its journey reflects the growing impact of regional cinema in India, and as it breaks records, it paves the way for future filmmakers. The excitement surrounding its release and subsequent success in theaters and on OTT platforms is a testament to the evolving landscape of Indian cinema.
