Malaika Arora's Marriage Advice for Young Women

13 Jan, 2026

Malaika Arora, a prominent figure in the Indian entertainment industry, recently shared her thoughts on marrying young during an interaction with India Today. Reflecting on her own experience of tying the knot at the age of 25, she believes that young women should think twice before making such a significant commitment.

When she married Arbaaz Khan in 1998, Malaika was still carving out her path in the industry. While she acknowledges that her marriage brought beautiful moments, including the joy of becoming a mother at a young age, she now urges women to live their lives fully before settling down. “Please don’t make the mistake of getting married so young. Live and experience life a bit. Then take the call to settle down,” she advised.

Malaika emphasizes the importance of being financially and emotionally independent before entering into marriage. Her own experience of a failed marriage, which culminated in divorce in 2017, has not soured her view on the institution of marriage. She still believes in love and the idea of marriage but is not actively seeking it. “If it happens, great. But I’m not seeking it. I’m very content,” she stated, expressing her satisfaction with where she is in life now.

The actor, who shares a son named Arhaan with Arbaaz, also spoke about her post-divorce journey. Despite being in a high-profile relationship with actor Arjun Kapoor for several years, she remains open to love and relationships without feeling pressured to settle down. “I love my life. I love the idea of love. I love being loved and sharing love,” she said, highlighting her positive outlook.

Malaika’s advice resonates particularly in the Indian context, where societal pressures often push young women towards early marriages. Her journey serves as an empowering message, encouraging women to prioritize personal growth and independence before making lifelong commitments.
