The biopic "Michael," chronicling the life of the pop legend Michael Jackson, has made a remarkable impact at the box office, grossing over $100 million in just four days. Released worldwide on Friday, with early previews in some markets, the film collected a staggering $97 million in the US and Canada during its opening weekend. This achievement marks the highest opening for any biopic in film history, eclipsing previous records held by films like "Oppenheimer" and "Bohemian Rhapsody," which both failed to cross the $80 million threshold.

Following its impressive debut, "Michael" continued to perform well, adding an additional $7.67 million on the following Monday. This brought its total domestic collection to over $104 million, firmly positioning it as the sixth-highest-grossing film of the year so far. The film's total worldwide gross stands at approximately $226 million, surpassing notable blockbusters such as India's "Dhurandhar: The Revenge," which earned $189 million, and the horror hit "Scream 7," which grossed $214 million.

Directed by Antoine Fuqua and written by John Logan, "Michael" stars a talented cast including Nia Long, Laura Harrier, Miles Teller, and Colman Domingo. The film delves into Michael Jackson's transformative journey from his early years in Gary, Indiana, through his time with the Jackson 5, and into his rise as a global superstar with iconic albums like "Off The Wall" and "Thriller." The narrative captures both the triumphs and challenges of Jackson's life, providing a compelling look at the man behind the music.

With its record-breaking performance, "Michael" is expected to continue its successful run at the box office. Industry experts predict that it will soon surpass other significant titles, including "Wuthering Heights" and "Hoppers," with aspirations to challenge "Project Hail Mary," which has grossed over $614 million. As audiences flock to theaters to witness Jackson's legacy, "Michael" not only sets a new benchmark for biopics but also reinforces the enduring popularity of the King of Pop in global cinema.
