PCB Punishes Pakistan Stars After T20 World Cup Exit, Imposes Massive Fine
Pakistan’s campaign in the T20 World Cup 2026 ended in disappointment as the team failed to qualify for the semifinals, triggering strong reactions from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
According to reports, PCB imposed a fine of PKR 5 million on each player following the team’s poor showing in the tournament. The decision was reportedly influenced by Pakistan’s loss to India and their inability to perform consistently against higher-ranked teams.
Pakistan managed just one victory in the Super 8 stage. Defeats against stronger opponents, including England, proved costly, while a narrow win over Sri Lanka was not enough to secure qualification.
The team’s exit has drawn heavy criticism from former cricketers and experts. Former captain Javed Miandad expressed disappointment, stating that Pakistan has repeatedly failed to make an impact in major ICC events.
Former players Mohammad Yousuf and Moin Khan also highlighted selection issues and poor performances from senior players, stressing the need for major changes in the team structure.
Current captain Salman Ali Agha, along with senior players such as Shaheen Shah Afridi and Shadab Khan, have faced intense scrutiny following the disappointing campaign. Reports suggest leadership changes may also be considered.
Pakistan’s early exit has once again raised serious concerns about the team’s performance in global tournaments and the direction of cricket in the country.
