Rajpal Yadav's Jail Experience and Future Projects
Rajpal Yadav recently opened up about his time in Tihar Jail during a light-hearted cooking session with Farah Khan. While preparing mixed vegetable rice, he reminisced about his struggles as an actor in Mumbai, where he often shared a cramped living space with 10-12 other aspiring artists. This dish, he explained, was a practical solution to avoid the hassle of making chapatis for so many people.
The conversation took a serious turn when Farah inquired about any assigned duties during his jail term. Rajpal clarified that his situation never escalated to that level, highlighting the discipline he maintained during his time there.
Rajpal’s legal troubles began in 2010 when he took a loan of ₹5 crore from a Delhi-based company to finance his directorial debut, Ata Pata Laapata. Unfortunately, the film did not perform well at the box office, leading to substantial financial losses. Unable to repay the loan, Rajpal found himself embroiled in a legal dispute that culminated in a conviction in 2018 for a cheque bounce case. The magistrate’s court sentenced him to six months in jail, a verdict that was upheld in 2019, with his total liability rising to nearly ₹9 crore.
On a brighter note, Rajpal is now looking forward to the release of his upcoming horror-comedy film, Bhooth Bangla. Directed by Priyadarshan, the film also features stars like Akshay Kumar and Paresh Rawal, alongside Wamiqa Gabbi and Tabu in pivotal roles. The movie is scheduled to hit cinemas on April 17, generating excitement among fans.
Meanwhile, Farah Khan, who has been busy with her directorial ventures, revealed that she plans to work on a new project with Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan later this year. Details about this upcoming film remain under wraps, but it has certainly piqued the interest of fans and industry insiders alike.
With Rajpal Yadav’s resilience and Farah Khan’s creative plans, both are set to make a significant mark in the entertainment industry soon.
