Ramayana: Ravie Dubey on Ranbir’s Sacrifices

Nitesh Tiwari, a renowned filmmaker, is gearing up to enthrall audiences with his upcoming film, Ramayana. This epic narrative will have Ravie Dubey playing the pivotal role of Lakshman. In a recent podcast with Ranveer Allahbadia, Dubey shared insights about the film’s set dynamics and the immense dedication shown by the cast, particularly highlighting Ranbir Kapoor’s sacrifices for his portrayal of Lord Rama.

Dubbing the experience as transformative, Dubey expressed his gratitude towards the entire team, including Nitesh Tiwari, Namit Malhotra, and Mukesh Chhabra for involving him in such a significant project. He reflected on how film sets can often be chaotic, but the production of Ramayana was remarkable for its efficiency. Not a single shift was extended, indicating a high level of preparedness and punctuality from the entire team.

“That role changed me,” Dubey said, emphasizing the need for authenticity in acting. He noted that the audience can easily discern when an actor is not genuine in their portrayal. To truly embody their characters, he and the cast, including Ranbir Kapoor, underwent significant lifestyle changes. Dubey described this collective effort as akin to a yagya, a sacred ritual, where everyone committed themselves to the essence of their roles.

When discussing his fellow actors, Dubey remarked on the contrasting energies of Ranbir Kapoor and Yash. He described Ranbir as possessing an incredible aura, characterized by quiet grace and deep commitment. “He carries a very soft energy,” Dubey added, noting that this is something everyone who meets him notices. In contrast, he described Yash as extremely friendly and genuine, highlighting the warmth and kindness both actors exude, albeit in very different ways.

Ramayana, directed by Nitesh Tiwari and produced by Namit Malhotra, boasts a stellar cast, with Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Ravie Dubey as Lakshman, Sunny Deol as Lord Hanuman, Sai Pallavi as Sita, and Yash as Ravana. The film is eagerly awaited, set to release in two parts, with the first installment debuting during Diwali 2026 and the second in Diwali 2027. Earlier this year, the filmmakers revealed the first look, generating excitement among fans.
