Tanushree Dutta Rejects Bigg Boss Offer for Dignity
Tanushree Dutta, a prominent figure in Indian cinema and a former Miss India, has made headlines again for her strong stance against participating in reality television. In a recent interview, she revealed that she has consistently turned down invitations to join the popular show Bigg Boss over the past 11 years, despite being offered an impressive ₹1.65 crore.
In her candid discussion, Tanushree emphasized her discomfort with the show's format, which often involves contestants sharing intimate spaces and beds. She stated, “Do you really think I would go to a show like that? I can’t stay in a place like that; I don’t even stay with my own family.” Her remarks highlight a significant concern regarding personal boundaries and the pressures of reality television.
Tanushree's decision stems from her belief that participating in such a show would compromise her dignity. She expressed, “I am not cheap enough to sleep on the same bed with a man for a reality show.” This statement resonates in a cultural context where personal values are often challenged by the allure of fame and financial gain.
Despite the lure of a lucrative offer, Tanushree insists that her privacy and self-respect are far more valuable. She firmly believes that she can earn a better living by pursuing her career in film and other avenues without compromising her principles. “I know I can earn more than that if they let me work in peace,” she asserted.
Her career began with the 2005 film Aashiq Banaya Aapne, and she is known for various roles in films such as Chocolate: Deep Dark Secrets and Bhagam Bhag. However, her career has not been without controversy. Tanushree gained national attention in 2018 when she brought forth allegations of sexual harassment against actor Nana Patekar, reigniting conversations around the #MeToo movement in India.
