Vikram Bhatt Faces ₹30 Crore Fraud Allegations
Filmmaker Vikram Bhatt has recently come under scrutiny following a criminal complaint filed against him in Udaipur, alleging his involvement in a ₹30 crore fraud related to a film project. The case has been officially lodged at the Bhupalpura police station, and authorities are currently investigating the matter.
The complaint was submitted by Dr. Ajay Murdia, who claims he had entered into a contractual agreement with Bhatt's company to produce several films and documentaries in memory of his late wife. According to Murdia, he made a substantial payment to Bhatt's production house, which was supposed to produce four movies. However, he alleges that only two films were made, and they were not attributed to him as per their agreement. Furthermore, the project with the highest budget never commenced, raising serious concerns about the handling of funds.
Vikram Bhatt has firmly denied these allegations, asserting that the police are being misled. In an interview, he stated, "I read the entire FIR. To be honest, I feel that the Rajasthan Police is being misled… I have neither a letter, nor a notice, nor anything. They claim I scammed ₹30 crores out of greed for ₹200 crores. If they have brought this to the police, they must have some documents." He also emphasized that he has evidence in the form of emails and contracts to support his claims.
Bhatt expressed bewilderment over the situation, especially since Dr. Murdia has previously collaborated with him on multiple films. He questioned why Murdia would continue to engage with him if he had indeed been deceived. "If I have made you a fool, then why are you making a third film with me?" Bhatt remarked, pointing out the inconsistencies in the allegations.
Vikram Bhatt, who started his career in the film industry as a teenager, is known for directing popular thrillers and horror films, including the Raaz and 1920 series. His most recent project, "Tumko Meri Kasam," was produced by Dr. Murdia and is a biopic of the founder of Indira IVF.
