Medihelp, a medical aid scheme, will increase plan prices by an average of 15.96% from January 2024. This adjustment is due to a return to normalcy post-pandemic and the need to compensate for three years of lower hikes. Growing membership has also strained the scheme’s reserves, necessitating the increase.
Despite the 16% hike, Medihelp's options remain competitively priced. This aligns with a trend of 5.8% increase in 2021, a 0.45% reduction in 2022, and a 7.2% hike in 2023. Product offerings for 2024 will largely stay the same, with additional care initiatives planned to support members in achieving better health outcomes.
