A shocking revelation by US Cybersecurity firm Resecurity has exposed the personal Aadhaar details of 815 million Indians for sale on the dark web. The compromised data includes Aadhaar and passport information, coupled with names, phone numbers, and addresses.
The breach, potentially linked to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), was detected on October 9. A user known as 'pwn001' posted the data for sale at $80,000.
While the government has yet to confirm the leak, Resecurity verified the authenticity of the IDs. This follows a prior breach in August involving 1.8 TB of data.
