Ahaan Panday: Not Just a Star Kid

13 Jan, 2026

Ahaan Panday has made waves in Bollywood with his debut film, Saiyaara, which has taken the box office by storm, grossing an impressive ₹580 crore. This remarkable achievement has positioned Saiyaara as the highest-grossing romantic film in Indian cinema. Despite the accolades, Ahaan faces the common perception that being a part of a film-connected family has cushioned his journey into the industry. However, in a recent interview, he has firmly rejected the label of being a ‘star kid’.

Speaking to GQ, Ahaan addressed the challenges that star kids often encounter in managing public perceptions. He stated, “I can’t speak from experience because Chikki Pandey is not a star.” By sharing this, Ahaan highlights the importance of individuality and the unique struggles that different individuals face regardless of their backgrounds. He believes that every person has their own set of trials and tribulations.

Ahaan is the son of businessman Aloke ‘Chikki’ Panday and Deanne Pandey. While his parents are not directly involved in the film industry, his family connections to it run deep. His father is friends with Shah Rukh Khan, and his uncle, Chunky Panday, is a well-known actor. Ahaan acknowledges that growing up around film personalities has given him a unique perspective on the industry.

Reflecting on his upbringing, Ahaan expressed, “I've always felt like the place I come from is behind a fence. I can reach out through it, but I can’t quite touch what’s on the other side.” This metaphor illustrates his feelings of being close to the film world yet feeling detached. He considers his privilege to have witnessed the industry up close, learning valuable lessons from those who have excelled in it.

With the overwhelming success of Saiyaara, Ahaan is now poised for more exciting opportunities. His next project is an action romance under the YRF banner, directed by Ali Abbas Zafar and co-starring Sharvari. Additionally, Aaishvary Thackeray, who also made his Bollywood debut this year, is set to play the antagonist in this yet-untitled film. Ahaan’s journey in Bollywood is just beginning, and his story promises to be an inspiring one as he carves his own path in the industry.
