Alert: Lock Your Aadhaar Card to Safeguard Against New Scam Targeting Bank Accounts

A new scam targeting Aadhaar card holders has emerged, putting bank accounts at risk. Scammers exploit a loophole in the Aadhaar-enabled Payment System (AePS) to potentially drain bank accounts to zero without the need for OTP authentication. By gaining access to fingerprint data, Aadhaar number, and bank name, scammers can carry out fraudulent transactions undetected.

Vigilance is crucial, especially in places like cyber cafes and photocopy shops where Aadhaar numbers may be compromised. To protect against this scam, lock your biometric data using the mAadhaar app or UIDAI website. Ensure AePS is disabled and biometric data is secured to prevent unauthorized access.
