Amit Passi's Record-Breaking T20 Debut Century

13 Jan, 2026

Amit Passi, a promising wicket-keeper from Baroda, celebrated an unforgettable debut in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. In a thrilling encounter against Services, he equaled the T20 world record for the highest score on debut, scoring a remarkable century off just 44 balls. This extraordinary achievement has placed him firmly in the spotlight of Indian cricket.

Replacing Jitesh Sharma, who was on national duty, 26-year-old Passi opened the batting with confidence. His innings was a display of power and precision, as he accelerated past his half-century in a mere 24 balls. With a series of boundaries, he showcased his aggressive batting style, thrilling fans and teammates alike.

As he approached his century, Passi was batting on 98 when he struck his ninth six, bringing up his hundred. This made him only the third Indian player to score a T20 century on debut. He finished his innings with a stunning total of 114 runs, hitting 10 fours and 9 sixes during his 55-ball stay at the crease.

Thanks to Passi's explosive performance, Baroda finished their innings at an impressive 220 for five in 20 overs. His contribution was pivotal, although Baroda was already out of contention for the Super League stage even before this match, given their position in the tough Elite Group C.

Interestingly, before this remarkable debut, Passi had struggled in the 2025 Baroda Premier League, scoring only 100 runs in six innings. His phenomenal performance in this crucial match has not only boosted his confidence but also reignited hopes for future opportunities in Indian cricket.

As fans celebrate this exciting moment, Amit Passi's debut century serves as a reminder of the potential talent emerging in Indian cricket, capable of making a significant impact on the international stage.
